Last weekend was Janet’s big Derby themed wedding shower. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty stressed to pull the whole thing off, but it really was a great afternoon.
Janet’s bridesmaids were full of ideas and super on board to help where ever necessary. We through the shower in Janet’s old community room, and every pitched in with one or two delicious dishes. When we got to the room to set-up we realized that not only did none of us know how to make a mint julep, but we hadn’t even tasted one before! So that process was totally winged. We purchased really cute mint julep cups, but I think we only had about 3 takers. Oops.
Luckily we had more success was the fashion theme. Everyone looked marvelous in their hats, even though it was hard for everyone to gather in close to take pictures! One of Janet’s friends showed up in full on riding gear, so she was quickly awarded the prize for the best dressed costume.
Janet opened presents, including a wine fridge with custom wine bottles from her bridesmaids (if you like what you see, let me make them for you – shameless self promotion!). Her sister-in-law created this gorgeous cake with white frosting roses. It looked straight out of a magazine. We had the guests fill out “Bet Cards” to predict what Janet and Mitch would be doing at each year of marriage. They are supposed to open each card on each anniversary, but we will see how long the bride can hold out.
All in all it was a success. Now I just have to make it through the bachelorette party! Being a MOH is hard work!!

looks awesome, Sooze!!
