Texas Country Week

I have dubbed it Texas Country Week in Washington, DC. Zach and I will be taking in two shows at the 9:30 Club this week - Pat Green tonight and Randy Rogers on Friday. I honestly didn't know who Pat Green was until we went to his concert last year. Once I realized who he was I actually did enjoy the concert haha. One of his most famous songs is Carry On. The first concert Zach and I ever went to was a Randy Rogers show in Seattle (ah memories :)), and our first dance was to his diddy One Woman. I have just recently heard his new song Fuzzy and I love it!

So happy Texas Country Week everyone. Time to dust off the boots and enjoy a beer :) For your enjoyment a little clip of Pat Green and Josh Abbott at their concert last year.

Pintresting with the Reeds

You have to know your strengths and weaknesses in life. For example, I am an awsome gift giver, can fall asleep with chaos going on all around me, and can make delicous bake goods. I am however, an awful speller, I fall down a lot, and I can't for the life of me make a straight line. Because of this, when I find fun D.I.Y. projects on Pintrest that require such percision I must recruit Zach.

I saw this tutorial on Pintrest (click here) to upgrade the standard IKEA coffee table into a rustic farm table for $24. We have that table (yes, we aren't complete big kids yet, we still have some IKEA pieces) and I was excited about the cheap upgrade. Zach was game to be the manly man to put it together and we both really like the end result.

Full disclosure, this project cost us about $50 bucks. This couple had the Primer, and a couple other tools that we did not have. But we love the result and it will be a few years before we have to upgrade to the big people furniture. I'll let you check out the tutorial, because lets be honest, Zach did the whole thing, but it seemed real easy. Another Pintrest success!

Day of Love

Yesterday was big day for love. It started in the morning with a brunch at my sister and brother-in-laws. On Thursday they went to the doctors to get their 20 week ultrasound and the doctor wrote the sex of their baby in an envelope. They dropped the results off at a baker and had a cake made to revel the sex of their baby to themselves and the rest of the family. Everyone was convinced it was a girl so when Janet and Mitch cut into their cake they were blown away to say blue icing. Its a boy!! I honestly don't think I have seen my parent happier. I am very happy to add another nephew to the mix, and can't wait to welcome Greyson James to the world in July.

After the exciting brunch I cashed in a gift certificate to get pretty at DryBar. One of my first friends from highschool was getting married that night in Baltimore. I've said it before but Alexis and Tyler are just two fabulously beautiful inside and out people you have ever met. Alexis has always been a friend that would do anything for me and the rest of her friends and from the second I met Tyler I knew he was crazy about Alexis. Lex is also funky and goes to the beat of her own drummer sometimes so I was very excited to see what touches she had for her wedding.

They got married at The Belevedere, a goreous old hotel in downtown Baltimore (I think Will Smith got married there). It was a mini highschool reunion with me, seeing friends that were at my wedding, and people I hadn't seen in 10 years! Lex looked gorgeous walking down the aisle as another friend from highschool sang "Sea of Love." The couple exchanged their own vows ... Ty promised to always be her dance partner "if he could keep up." The bridesmaids were rocking great black dresses that you could wear again, and we all dined on a chili bar. How fun is that? The dance floor was always busy and ending with a last song of "Wagon Wheel" with a huge group hug. You could feel the love.

So excited for the new lives that are start. Congratulations to you all!!

Weekend Wrap Up

I actually had to spend Saturday and Sunday at work running a scholarship competition for my department. Normally I am pretty good with my wake-up times but the 5ish am wake up calls on the weekend are a bit rough. A few highlights: a girl submitting sheet music for Hannah Montana's The Climb, and a conversation between two girls ending with (after finding out the girl she was talking to is from Maryland), "I'm not that great with geography, is that close to here?"

I am really in this I want to buy something cute phase. I tried on a bunch of jeans Saturday after work but wasn't blown away by anything. This probably wasn't the jeans fault. No matter how good they are they aren't going to make me look like the size 2 models that wear them on the store's website.

I am not on the final season of Dawson's Creek. Does anyone remember that Jack Osborne made an apperance as Audrey's California neighbor? And Natalie Imbruglia was Joey's co-worker at a bar and Pacey and Jack's roomate? Love it.

Thoughts on Justin Timberlake's latest release? I loved his suit more than the song, but I am sure it will grow on me.

Buffalo Chicken Flatbread

So this picture looks really gross, but it turned out to be a tasty little meal I made last week. I made a crockpot of shredded buffalo chicken on Sunday and was looking for different ways to serve it. My first variation was a flatbread and it was super easy!

Crockpot Buffalo Chicken
For 7-9 hours combine 3lbs of chicken breast, 1 12oz. bottle of Frank's red hot sauce and 1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix.

Pull chicken out and shred. Put back in the crockpot, and 2 Tablespoons of butter and mix. Let it soak in the sauce for 30 more minutes. Then you are done!

Buffalo Chicken Flatbread
Preheat the oven to 350. Place your flatbread in the oven for 4-5 minutes (I used Flatout flatbread). Pull the bread out and add your toppings. I did shredded mozzerela cheese, diced red onion, chopped red peppers and some of the chicken. Bake for 3-4 more minutes and enjoy!

Victory Lap

Last night I went to a happy hour to celebrate my lovely friend's 29th birthday. It was crazy to think that I have known her for nine year now, and how many major life milestones we have been there for. The majority of my girlfriends are going to turn 29 this year, as my friend Shelby says, the Victory Lap of our 20s. It really is such a monumental decade. For the first time in our lives we moved to the college of our choice, made friends that became our second family, and had our first jobs, first apartments, first loves, first heartbreaks. The twentites is about forming the life of your choice, and not what your parents have given you. I have experienced lows, and extreame highs, and I have had amazing friends all the way through to be by my side.

So cheers to all my ladies as we start our Victory Lap this year. I found this very appropriate: http://www.buzzfeed.com/przshly07/what-its-like-to-be-a-20something-as-told-by-mean-8ttl?dummy=1
