Working on the checklist

We are less than two weeks away from Janet's big day. This weekend was spent trying to mark things off both of our check lists. Saturday morning was the most surprising. Zach and I went to go look at wedding bands and we actually walked out with mine in hand! Zach is being ordered, and we should have it in 10 days. That afternoon Janet and I went to Friendship Heights to find wedding day fragrances. We actually ran into a mutual friend of ours that worked there, so she showed us around and we had a great time trying out scents. I'm currently working on a couple things for Janet and Mitch's big weekend, but everything seems to be coming together. I hope you all had a great weekend!

Nashville, TN

Last weekend I flew to Nashville, TN for my third bachelorette party of the year to celebrate the fabulous Kimmy. I met Kimmy my junior year at Elon. I had spent the semester with her roommate Paige in London, and then ended up moving right next store to her. We shared a wall, so I got to hear all her loud music haha.

Friday night we headed to Cabanas for dinner. You can rent cabanas to eat in (hence the name) and hook up your ipod to play music through dinner. I had possibly one of the best meals I have eaten in the  LONGEST time: crab hush puppies, bbq pork wontons and peanut butter pie. It was amazingly delicious.

Saturday, after some comfort cheeseburgers and shakes, we walked around Broadway checking out all of Nashville's finest tourist shops. We tried on boots and pearl snaps, and even found a fetching pink cowgirl hat for the bride to rock. After shopping we through Kimmy a lingerie shower at the hotel. She got some lovely items for the honeymoon, even some non-traditional items like her full-sized onesie. Once she was showered with goodies we went back to Broadway for a night on the town. We went to a karaoke bar, but in Nashville, everyone is really talented. We danced and ran into plenty of characters. All in all it was a wonderful night.

It's few and far between that I get to see my college girls, so I am so excited that we have two weddings this year to bring us all together.

Congrats Kimmy!

Abercrombie?

I am now three days into my new job. Working for a university is a completely different world than anything I have done before. I am working in the GW Musical Department, so I am sure I am going to have plenty of stories for the years to come. Let's start with the meeting I had today. The guy who used to do my job was wearing an Abercrombie & Fitch sweater with the large Moose on the chest. I was immediately transported back to freshman year of college, when that was ALL the rage. Oh my goodness it was distracting haha.

Outstanding Foster Parent Appreciation Gala

This past Saturday was my Outstanding Foster Parent Appreciation Gala. I had been working on the event for the past four months, but that time honestly flew by. I can't believe I am already 3 days into my new job already!

Zach and I got to the Grand Hyatt around 9 a.m. on Saturday. I went to work setting up the event space and didn't really stop until 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Overall, I think the event went really well. We had about 600 people attend, and I honestly started to get a little freaked out when we had our crush of people start coming. All of our elected officials showed up on time, albeit a little late, but the show went  on just fine. Everyone seemed to have a great time.

My favorite part of the night, and my coolest career achievement thus far was seeing the Georgetown Cupcakes with my event logo on them. I love myself some Georgetown Cupcake, and to have my work on them was very cool.

Thanks for all your well wishes everyone!

Surprise Visit

I just had a surprise visit from one of my favorite couples Hi Kat. They only live 45 minutes away, but I am AWFUL about getting over to Baltimore. It was sooo good catching up with them.

I'm trying to be better about not being such an old lady and staying in when I have a free day. I just made plans to hook up with my high school girls in Baltimore in a couple weeks and a happy hour with my college girls I haven't seen in awhile. It's been a crazy couple of weeks but its great when you get to have a time out with quality people that you love.

O M Gee

So on Monday afternoon, after 30 minutes of smelling smoke, my office was evacuated. Turns out there was a fire on the roof. Well we returned to work on Tuesday and the smoke was still too bad, so I left around noon. I returned today, and it is manageable, but it is still pretty irritating to the throat/eyes.

Normally I wouldn't complain about two pseudo half days, but we are currently 2.5 working days away from my Gala, the biggest event to date I have ever planned. Just a little stressed out at the moment ... just a tad.

White Flag

Well kids, I offically waved the white flag today. After seven full weeks of Insanity - four regular, one recovery and two extreme, I have decided that this morning was my last Insanity workout. We were only two weeks away from our 60 days, but let me tell, Insanity is truly the hardest thing I have ever done. I have two really imporant weeks coming up, so I have decided I have accomplished enough and will have to be proud with that.

Although I didn't lose any weight, I am much closer to my acceptable wedding arms than I would have ever been doing anything else. I have gain TONS of muscle and am feeling good. I will probably repeat the first four weeks in October, but for now I want to get back to running and enjoying the outdoors when it is still daylight.
