In this whole process of unemployment I have been fortunate to have a good number of interviews. The interviewing process takes a lot out of you and it finally dawned one me ... an interview is a lot like a first date!
Before the interview you have a lot of nerves. You want to make sure you are looking your best. In this case you put on that good looking suit that you never ever where on a normal work day.
Much like a date you are constantly thinking what the interviewer "date" thinks of you. Are they liking what they are saying? Do they find you attractive? There is lots of nervous laughter.
After a good interview, just like a good date, you wonder - did they like me? Will they call me again? Is there a future here? After a bad date there is the usual urge to go for the closest cookie or order a round of beers.
And like the dating scene, at least for me, there is always the wonder - when will this whole process be over? When will I find the one?
Santa didn't get me a job for Christmas, but he did get me a third round of interviews with a law firm in D.C. Hopefully I'll be off the market soon!
